I was going after an interesting looking galaxy group consisting of NGC 474 (center of image) and NGC 470 (center top) and NGC 467 (unfortunately it lies just beyond the edge of my shot). I was drawn towards 470 while looking from some interesting galaxies to shoot in Pisces, then noticed that there appeared to be some faint smudges around 474 that extend beyond the brighter central core. I did a little research and there is very complex set of "rings" around both 474 and 467... it was this detail I was hoping to image. I managed 40 minutes which is probably about 4 hours too little so I'm hoping next weekend will give me some clear skies so I can attempt this group again. However I did manage to get a little of the brighter portion of the rings around 474 though.

Thanks guys. It's capturing those beautiful deep sky objects that make it easier to live with the occasional night when nothing goes right! :)

Cool stuff Kevin, I love the limitless amount of deep sky objects to find in the night sky. I would love to see you put more time into this.

Thanks Mark. I didn't think I would get anything at all because I had a sever attack of gremlins that night. I got to the observing site around 7:30 and wasn't able to get shooting till after 11 and then fog rolled in around midnight and I had to pack it up. I even ended up using about 10 frames of focusing (around a minute each) just to add to the total data!
