Kevin, thank you a lot for your words and your interest in my photo.
About the camera: it's a Canon 450d Astrodon modified, no filters. 300 seconds worths something with a 12", and naturally this is a crop (about 1/3 of the whole photo). I've been struggling a bit with "pear" star circles, using a deconvolution filter and a lot' of trying. This improves a little 'details, then I leveled with ACDNR in PixInsight. "The Thing"? he he he. It's made by a Texan craftsman, the brave Lenord Stage. you can see it here: http://www.gototelescopes.com/harmonic%20mount%201.html (slideshow on the left). It seems a strange, alien insect. With The Thing I can move with virtually no backlash (and without meridian flip) a big 50lbs beast like my XT12; and it's portable - dismounted obviously, 120lbs of iron and aluminium).
If you have any curiosity about her, please ask. After a year of struggle to design and making it, it makes me really happy to talk about "The Thing"...

Nice shot. Where did you shoot this from? I to have to deal with light polluted skies and am impressed with the amount of detail you got. Did you use any filters or anything? You also have my curiosity peeked about the mount! :)
Kevin
