I'm not if you remember, but I was having some slewing problems and erratic tracking and the hand controller was either shutting off or dimming in mid November when it started getting cold. I check with a number of people and they thought it was either the thick packing grease in the gears or something wrong with the circuit board. I checked all the stuff on my mount and somewhere noticed in the overview that I was supposed to be using a 12v adapter with a minimum 2 continuous amps. I was using a 12v, 1.5 amp adapter. I bought a 12v, 4 amp adapter and took it out in December when it was about 10F and it worked just great. Taught me once again to read directions.

Hi Marc,

Looked at your other explanation as well. I'll have to see if the 12v, 4 amp has made the improvement in tracking. I'm inclined to think that may have been the problem, since with only 1.5 amps, and needing a continuous 2 amp minimum, it probably lost tracking occasionally. Maybe wishful thinking, however. Have millions of things to try, ie getting some experience with the dslr and trying a new protocol and software for the sbig in stacking and guiding. My dslr has been away for 2 weeks as of tomorrow, so should be returning soon. Then I need some weather. Many thanks and great explanations - and images.

David, I did this w/PSE 8 (colorized) http://bit.ly/hh68nX After that one I started blending them w/rgb pics(not that well,but getting better). I went w/the 12nm because I'm using a dslr and I figured i could keep the exposure time down a bit (mainly to keep the noise down) as opposed to a 6nm(or so). So far I've been using 9mn exps (w/Ha filt). the more the better, but less the signal goes down fast. If you are going to use the sbig and your mount can handle 10+mn exposures you might be better off w/6nm. You get better contrast from what I've read and seen. I'd make sure you're good w/guiding that long. I just started back using my C8 (my M1 pic) D, I said I did star repair, believe me, I did star repair (think mouse terds). I was doing 9mn and the guiding was H. I think I can straighten it out we'll see. I like that bottom one you did a good blend w/it and still keep the stars looking good. Marc

Hey Marc, I love this filter. I know I've seen some of your images before but just tried fooling around with this one in PSE 7 n carboni tools and lightroom. Couple of questions. Are you colorizing your images? How did you know 12 nm was the right narrowband wavelength or is this the only one Astronomik makes. Checked with WH Camera and OPT and they're backordered - along with everything else on the site. Going to attach 3 images with just very slight variations. Thanks Dave

go back a bit in their pics, C+T were using a single shot color. It's a bit more $ for the filt. Screw on compared to a clip (dslr). The main reason for me was to open up more time to be out w/the tele. Got tired of looking at a clear night, but the moon was too much. Marc
