Thanks Trevor, finding that the flares appear much better shortly after the sun rises. Higher it gets in the sky, you lose contrast. Not sure exactly why, but must have something to do with the atmosphere. Dave
Hi Spike. Using a Coronado PST with a built in Ha filter. Too short a focus for my DBK camera, my Canon and my Sbig. Out of necessity using only the Philips Toucam Pro II - used to use my Neximage that I sold but understand they have the same chip. Just using a table tripod that comes with the scope - no other mount and no guiding. Set at about 1/500s for 30 seconds at 30fps. Normally get in the neighborhood of 950 images and select the best 1% with Registax 5. Aligns and stacks on average about 15-40 images. Process in Adobe Lightroom2 and Photoshop Elements 7. Love your shots of Saturn and Jupiter. Can't even get close to that. Need more toys!!.
