Rashmi, welcome on. My pier is concrete http://marcbasti.com/equipment/
I googled "wooden telescope pier" and a bunch of stuff came up. W/just a quick scan a lot of it mentioned the down side of using wood as a "stable" material. Myself, I do see the plus side of a wooden pier; in situations where you might not own the property and the owner doesn't want to have to deal w/a massive chunk of concrete and rebar to remove-w/wood, chainsaw and it's gone. Costs+labor could also be a consideration-w/wood being cheaper and easier. Plus are you observing or imaging, and if you are imaging, dso or planetary. If observing or doing planet pics I'm guessing wood would probably be fine imo. If you have ?'s feel free. Marc

Welcome to Astrogab Rashmi. There are plenty of people on here that have created thier own peirs....but I am not sure that they did so out of wood. Most are of concrete...Charlie Dunlop and Marc Basti both made their own, Both are very helpful, maybe they could give you some pointers. Good luck and enjoy the site!
