Hey Man, thanks for your reply. when it comes to noise with my Sony, if the camera is close and I mention higher ISO it starts to glow red.
The way your Nikon attached is pretty much the same as mine, I am still spending way too much time trying to figure out if I am going with DSLR or CCD so for now I am not going to think about it anymore, I am going to wait for that epiphany moment.

Phillip, I used the same (I think), but different setup. It was (is, still have) a Nikon4300 c-px w/a threaded lens barrel. An extender goes on the end and you can screw filters (or adapters) on it. At first, I got a few plumbing fittings and made an adapter to fit over regular smooth sided eyepieces. I moved on to Baader Hyperion eyepieces and they came threaded to fit all sorts of applications. Worked pretty well. It could do 1mn exposures w/a hand remote, but the amp glow was horrendous (1st generation cam.). It was a good place to learn. Marc

Hey Marc, thanks man, most of the time I am using a wide 40mm Plossl that I can attach directly to the lens of the camera. The camera is a Sony F-828 and at the time back in 2002 it was their flagship digital cam for Sony, I was working for Sony Pictures at the time so I got a great deal, instead of $1000.00 I got it for $900.00 and kid you not the 1GB memory stick pro had just came out and it was $999.00, wow times have changed. The Camera is still a great camera with its full built in true 200mm Carl Zeiss lens but not the best for AP. I have been holding off getting a good camera for AP simply because I do not want to jump into anything I do not understand just yet and I want to get as much info before I do. The moon right now is a great target to learn along with some closer DS objects. My camera has no way of turning off the NR but I am going to see what Happens if I turn up the ISO and try some dark frames. Any suggestions for my next camera would be greatly appreciated, I am torn between a T1i or going with a CCD, right now I am modifying some webcams to learn some of the other stuff. Spike had some great suggestions but still need more info/opinion. Sorry for the long reply, thanks for you kind comments about my moon shot.

Phillip, you get nice steady focus (especially for afocal). What do you use to mount the camera? Marc PS Get some serious transparent sky in AZ or what.
