I have wanted to paint an image based on the formation of a solar system for quite some time but I was having artist block coming up with a composition so one day a while back I was looking at one of my moon shots and the image for my painting popped into my head, this is the result. I even used my moon shot as a base to paint over for the planet in the FG. The moon base was shot with my SPC900NC webcam as a mosaic with my CGEM-800 set up and the rest is painted in CS5 with over 400 layers using my Wacom Tablet.

Thanks Trevor, very much appriciated. It is a nice break away from creating animated films which I love but having that passion for our universe out there is a passion too, I am thankful to be able to share a vision for that also. All the best to you and your family for the holidays. Clear skies my friend.

Thanks Derek, I am thrilled that you like it, it is part of a series I am doing loosly based on Kepler finds. They are going to be part of a new section on my site called "Out of this World". I have some others completed so I am hoping over the next few days to get the new section worked out on my site. You can check it out at www.philipsastroart.com Thanks again for your wonderful comments and encouragement, all the best man.

That's incredible! I love it!!

You should send that into Sky&Tel, Astronomy magazine, and all sorts of book publishers, as it would make fabulous cover art or to beautifully supplement an article on the topic. Heck, you could sell it as a wonderful piece of art, either as a painting or poster!
