I have wanted to paint an image based on the formation of a solar system for quite some time but I was having artist block coming up with a composition so one day a while back I was looking at one of my moon shots and the image for my painting popped into my head, this is the result. I even used my moon shot as a base to paint over for the planet in the FG. The moon base was shot with my SPC900NC webcam as a mosaic with my CGEM-800 set up and the rest is painted in CS5 with over 400 layers using my Wacom Tablet.

Love this Phil, so alive,so active and angery.
Really looks like total chaos. Good job Philip. Marc
Hey Chris, thanks man, I am glad you like it. In my real line of work I am an Art Director/Production Designer Producer ans Film Director in the Animation Industry so pretty much everthing I do is for CG animated flims and TV series. Currently my company has been contracted to design a new game for Disney to be released with Epic Mickey 3. We are doing all the designs and for the first incubation period we are handling all the animation and EFX along with the sets. We are using After Effects, Maya and 3D Max. If you have seen BACK AT THE BARNYARD or PLANET SHEEN on Nick you have seen some of my companies work. I started using 3D software all the back on Amega 4000, man things have come a long way. Thanks again for your comments, all the best, man PS if you go to this page you can see the body of work I have done over the last 20 years. http://www.philipsastroart.com/Credits.html
