Yes, I would agree...the CCD will pick up more fine detail. However, if you did get up to 5 minute frames and you got say...20 plus good ones with a nice set of flats, darks and bias I'd bet you give Fred a run for his money :)

Thanks, Russ. 5 minute subs proved to be too long, but 3 worked nicely, so I went with it. The ground was sandy and somewhat shifty, but all in all not too bad. The skies made up for any shortcomings attendant to the ground. No data of any significance was clipped. Too bad I couldn't come even close to what Fred did on this trio, but DSLR vs.CCD is what it all boils down to, I suppose.

Hey Jeff. Looks like you got your tracking back on track. :)
It's a little dark on my screen which might mean you clipped some of the finer details but it's still a nice shot.
