Although this object is classified in most catalogues as a globular cluster, a new school of thought is emerging that it "is not actually a globular cluster but the remnant core of a dwarf spheroidal galaxy that fell into the Milky Way." - "A Springtime Globular Cluster Tour," Sky & Telescope, June 2012, p. 65.
