Here is more info on the mount. The drive gears are brass, 5.7 inches diameter with 244 teeth. The main drive motor has 100 inch pounds torque and is carried on another worm wheel driven by a DC motor for guiding corrections with power for the drive motor coming through a commutator disk. The polar and dec axes are 2 inch stainless steel supported by 4 inch OD bearings.The upper section of the polar axis is stainless tubing and houses a small diagonal mirror and polar finder scope. The bronze main driving worm is adjustable on its shaft to correct for periodic error.

You hear of homemade scopes, but mounts pretty rare. And it certainly does not look like it came out of the HDepot plumbing aisle that's for sure. That is great, Marc
