Well thank you Spike. I like to do things my own way: sort of an innovator at heart. I definitely don't follow the beaten path, I prefer to find my own way using science to help lead the way.

I was thinking that maybe some of the people here would like to learn how to really characterize a camera....

I could start a group to teach Photon Transfer Characterization. With one set of simple to take data you learn:

1) read noise
2) full well
3) camera gain
4) camera linearity
5) Dark Signal Non Uniformity
6) PhotoResponse Non Uniformity...

these are the key performance metrics for any electronic imaging system and they are easy to measure and it takes absolutely no special equipment... good thing for a rainy weekend!
