Shoot this emissiion nebula through my Meade Series 5000 80mm APO refractor, Hutech LPS2 filter and unmodded Canon 30D DSLR.
(10) light frames @ 150 seconds each with in-camera noise reduction on. Staked using DSS and enhanced in PS. Had to apply noise reduction filters to reduce noise due to limited frames.
Enjoy

Hi Nick,
Without the filter, the adjacent light pollution would come through and wash out the image. This filter blocks the light pollution while allowing emission nebula light to pass through. My image is really noisey. I'm not sure what to do?
I've been looking at other images by fellow imagers and most are using much newer Canon cameras which have very low noise compared to mine. The images taken through the newer cameras seem to provide a nicely even background while mine is blotchy. I wll have to upgrade in the future so that I'm not wasting time:)

Don, A great shot. The color came out beautiful. The background stars make the photo stand out! What would it look like with out the HUTECH LPS2 filter? Thanks for sharing.
