M8 Final, I really mean it...until next time.

Sorry to post yet another M8 image, but I really think that I have turned a corner with this one. After months of poor skies the Sky Gems of the Spring/Summer have returned. I could not resist trying all that I have learned from all of you over the last couple months on one of my favorite targets...
30 x 5mins
102mm ED Triplet Explore Scientific Refractor
Sirius Goto Mount
ST2000XCM
Astronomick LPR

I will post the raw in the "re-process my image" group so you can have a go at it.

I just saw Richard Crisp's page, wow, there is so much amazing work on this site!! I am going to check out Phil Cruden's work as well, thank you so much for the tip.

Thanks Martin! You should hook up Phil Cruden on this site. He's a photographer/film maker turned astro guy. You might have much in common. One of my fave nebulas too, one of the first I ever found in the eyepiece....and pretty easy to image to boot. Fun to watch the progression from my first attempt on this object to this...and actually the widefield version that I did as well. Such a difference. As proud as I am of it, still does not come close to Crisp's version.

Incredible work! There is so much texture there, and since I come from esthetics rather than science (I am a professional photographer) I just love the color. The Lagoon is one of my favorite nebulas....

Thanks guys!
Hopp, my stars have aways been a weak point for me. I have always been jealous of Basti's stars and have tried to duplicate what he does. I don't have his process, but better better guiding technique combined with the LPR has done wonders.
Marc, first I actually used DDP settings this time. I also did something kinda funny with it...I used ddp in Maxim (which Jeff turned me on to) right after combining...and then again after all processing was done. I then took that, and layered (I use layering in CS2 all the time now thanks to you, Hopp and I think Mark) it back into the original.
Spike, right! Yeah, I have like 6 "finals' on this one too, lol! And as soon as I posted it I was like...I coulda done X too...but I had to walk away from it or I would still be working on it now, lol.
Mark, thanks brother! That was what I was going for!

Thanks guys!

Pulled a bunch more detail on this one-nice. Different ddp settings? Like the dark detail. Marc
