I was lucky enough to be able to get away to Calstar at nearby Lake San Antonio this year which is only a couple hours drive and offers pretty decent dark skies.

So I took advantage and went deep on something I have always strugled with , kind of a nemesis target and im sure some of you know what im talking about.

Was trying to frame it to get all of the surrounding but even the ED80 cant get all the great stuff in this area.

I did use my old C8 shot of this for the core , fun being able to use old "useless" data.

Crazy that 7 hours from a dark sky still isnt enough for this target and it could go as deep as you want almost.

42 10min subs with no filter at ISO 800 stacked in DSS then adjusted in PS CS2. Canon 500D(modded) , Orion Atlas mount and the scope was an ED80 with WOVII FR and a 7x40mm finder as a guide scope.

Hey thanks very much guys.

I used the align function in MaximDL but I know it can be done in Nebulosity and even in Deep Sky Stacker I believe.

After I align it I bring it over as a layer and just paint brush in the parts I want and feather out.

Nicely done Erik. Did you use RegiStar to combine the C8 data with the 80ED?
