Thanks for the info, Alistair. I haven't tried any mosaics yet, but do have a "wide field" setup using various camera lenses up to 200mm. This area would fit pretty nicely with that lens and my QSI 583 camera. The mosaic approach almost certainly produces a sharper image, but it's SO much work!

Greg, There were 7 images in the mosaic. Each image had between 4 and 10 hours of H-alpha data and 30 mins in each color channel. So the RGB data is really just being used for the skybackground and to give the correct star colors.
