Indeed, "almost" seeing this 15 th mag quasar through a Dobs maybe fun for some, but nothing beats slewing across the lunar highlands staring thru a bino viewer attached to your 8" SCT ; imagining yourself as the 3rd man aboard the Eagle joining Armstrong & Aldrin headed for Tranquility base. Beats even Saturn's rings.
Anyhow that's how I caught the bug...

Pretty much where we all started-the craters-rings of Saturn (yikes), Jups moons and out to the deep.
But scraping the moon w/a telescope-sweet.
