In the original photo below, the galaxy viewed from the center is NGC 3190, and the elliptical galaxy in the upper right is NGC 3193.
To the left of NGC 3190 are the barred spiral galaxy NGC 3187 and to the lower left NGC 3185. The four galaxies of Hickson 44 are thought to be gravitating strongly, twisting each other.
The background around Hickson 44 shows faint blotches of red and yellow dots on a black background, not stars, but numerous galaxies farther away than Hickson 44.
