Taylor Park Reservoir at 31 degrees on a June night. The sky had remained clouded out most of the night the temperature dropped to 31 degree F. I nodded off waiting, the sky was supposed to clear.

Then about 2:30 in the morning I woke with a start to see the Milky Way already high in the sky. By the time I was ready and had my equipment sleepily dialed in and ready, I got several shots and then this one shortly before dawn broke at 10,000 feet. Other than leaving a random tripod in the shot it turned out well, so remember even in the dark to check your shots!

Well a tripod is better than road sign, yep I have done that in the dark:). Thanks for sharing the settings, I have tried f3.5, ISO-3200 for 30sec with my T1i but the noise is crazy and expected with a T1i. 5D MKII, very cool camera.

I kinda liked it after I saw it. Made me chuckle.

Was shot with a 5D MkII 14mm lens at f2.8 Iso 3200 2 minute exposure. For Milky Way and foreground (tracking stopped)

Wow Dave, really nice, too bad about the tripod, you could paint it out though. Beauty of a shot, what did you shoot with and what settings if you do not mind me asking.
