Your golden rule is so true. I was out one night shooting Jupiter and I lost it on the screen. I tried everything to get it back in the frame. 30 min of frustration. It turrned the cable was not quite all the way into the camera and it unplugged itself from the camera so you are right. Cheers, Phil

Ah well, that's what it's all about. Share the knowledge or at least the experience so we all can get better results from our investments. Glad to hear you have success. Live by the golden rule - what can go wrong will go wrong and be prepared for a night or two of frustration. I've found that when things go wrong is usually the most obvious thing that's not set right and it's always the last thing you check :)

Thanks Russ. As soon as the big light bulb in the sky is gone away for for the evenings I will get back out:) I am planinning on doing exactly as you suggested starting with the Orion Nebula and go from there. I would love to give the Horsehead and Flame Nebula a go too. Shooting Comet Lovejoy would be cool too. Thanks again so much for taking the time to help me. It really made such a difference. When I got it all working I walked into the house to tell Lorraine and the first thing I said was " I must thank Russ". Happy New Year man.

It's sweet when a plan comes together!!

Go after a few bright and easy ones to start. Orion Nebula, Star clusters, Comet Lovejoy - in Lupis headed for Orion later this month, M1, or even the Horsehead or Flame Nebula. There's a ton of stuff that you can practice on and get results as you dial things in for longer and longer sub frames.

Thanks Marc, I went from pulling out what little hair I have left to a moment of great joy when I got it all working. I can't wait to get back out and do some imaging.
