One day I was cursing the clouds for keeping me from making astro-photos when I noticed that there were some really interesting shapes in the clouds that looked a lot like the deep-space objects they were blocking. So I photographed them, processed them for more color and contrast, then overlaid a star field image.
I can recommend this as a way to feel victorious over the clouds, even if your friends aren't fooled by it!
So as not to embarrass anyone, I'll admit that there's a good reason you've never seen this nebula. Here's a hint: This image consists of 11 sub-exposures, 1 of which was taken at a very different time.
