I am finally done my "winter project" of M78 in the constellation Orion. The winter weather in the Niagara Region doesn't bode to well for astrophotographers as the clear nights are slim to none. Last night, however, I was able to squeeze in another 1.5 hours of shooting on this beautiful subject. I am satisfied with my results, and look forward to moving on to my next project, The Orion Nebula:) Thanks for looking!

Thank you everyone! Trev - I did not frame it perfectly, but I tried to keep the object as close to the center of the frame as possible. It was quite small in my 80mm. The final image above was cropped to about 50% of the frame. There were about 4 nights in total I believe.. sorted into groups for each night (The tabs at the bottom of DSS) and combined into one monster of a .tif file with a decent SNR

Oh wait, sorry did not read the fine print....done over multiple nights? Well done. You were able to frame it perfectly or did you crop? I can never pull that off and usually need to crop. Any secrets to share?

Nicely done Trev! The integration time you put into this greatly paid off.

Very nice. I've been hoping to shoot M78 also, but have barely seen the sky since October.

Great job Trevor! You will have to start giving seminars soon.
