Yeah nothing is sacred. Re-tried layering mask. Think it looks a bit sharper. I also hit the whole thing with are good friend Carboni. Marginally better than the original. Honestly, I include it because it was in with this group.

Man, when I see shots like this I get even more confused about DSLR vs CCD. Your shot here just looks fantastic, with all the great shots you take what is your preference. I have been doing so much reading on both I am still on the fence. I would not be if it was not for the money issue, Right now for me it is one or the other. Experience like yours is so valuable. Best, Phil

Oh, you used the 80mm? I thought you used the RC. Oh wow. What exposures? Of course I also learned from your last post that you travel to shoot. I need to stop being lazy and take advantage of the dark sky sites we have here. Shooting over my neighbor's flood lights can't be helping matters much. lol.

You used an ES102ED for that, right? That's 714mm FL and F7. I used an 80ED @f7.5 and 600mm (80mm aperture), assuming you were referring to my M42. I think I overdid the Unsharp Mask actually and I'm halfway thru another reprocess to smooth it out some. And I *really* can't wait to try it with Orion's triplet @480mm. With the Parsec 8300M that should just be awesome. But I have to get Ron@Moonlite to make a flange for me so I can put a MoonLite on it first and all that.

Thanks Brother, but ya know, I kinda like the sharpness of yours and Jeff's M42. You both hit it with larger apertures, that may be key...I could also have put more time in on it. I dunno. May reshoot before it leaves us for the summer.
