I don't normally use my Nikon D300 for astro-photography, but for various unimportant reasons I did this time. And I noticed that the bright side (this was in totality, but still pretty bright on one side) had a strong blue tinge to it. I haven't seen this in anyone else's eclipse photos, so I'm going to blame it on Nikon. On the other hand, I think I like this look!

This is a blend of 2 frames at different exposures to get details in both the brightest and darkest areas.

Great Capture Greg. The blue certainly is strange, I too would think it is the camera. Either way it is still a great image. Cheers, Phil

Thanks, Russ. I may have to "upgrade" to a newer Canon DSLR for one-shot color applications like this.

Hey Greg,

We had solid cloud cover for this one but last time I had the chance to image the moon in totality my Canon 450D didn't "add" that blue tinge so you may be right. Regardless, it's a fine looking image.

Russ
