C/2014 E2 (Jacques) "imagined" as it passed through the Heart Nebula. This is approximately where it was at 9AM on 8/20 (local time on the west coast). I actually imaged it about 12 hours later and again on 8/22.

Thanks, Marc. The Heart Nebula image is actually a 2x1 mosaic from the AT111. I shot the comet with an EdgeHD 8" (with 0.7X reducer) and scaled it down to (very approximately!) the right size.

I've never tried a non-reducing flattener. I'm very happy with the William Optics Flat 4 reducer/flattener. I like the focal length, focal ratio, and image quality it produces with the AT111. For longer focal length I go to either my AP 142 (at its native f/7.5 or with a reducer to about f/6) or the EdgeHD. The AP scope produces a remarkably flat field without any correction (not perfect, but seeing limitations here are almost always such that the field curvature is undetectable). That's fortunate, because flatteners for these scopes are VERY expensive!

Is this w/the AT111? Either way have you ever used a straight flattener (no reduc) on it? Liked your article in ATT, well done. I let my paper subscription lapse and they sent me a copy (reminder) and it happened to be that issue. Marc

Thanks, Marc. Maybe it's too easy to make cool pic when I'm faking it!?
