Thanks for the comment WIlliam...Great idea on using the finder scope to guide, that's really what the Orion 50mm is!

I like the setup for several reasons, one of those is the guide scope, Orion came out with those earlier in the year the 9x50, I have been using a Orion 80mm short tube for a guide scope mounted ontop a CPC800, very bulky, almost bought one of the 9x50 guide guide scope, looked in my spare parts box and found a unused not too old 9x50 finder, slightly modified the back, inserted the Orion PHD guider, allowed some room for focus, the best thing ever added, much less weight, guiding is much more precise now.

So far so good Steve. It is my first guidescope so I have nothing to compare it to, but it was by far the most cost-effective and easiest way for me to start autoguiding. Like you said, its small size and the fact you can slide it into the finder scope slot makes it very convenient! Only about $100 too:)

Nice job Trevor. How do you like the 50mm guide scope. I've read it works well and it certainly shaves some weight in that you don't need a guidescope with mounting rings etc.
