You don't need fancy and expensive gear to take nice photographs of the heavens!!
What does matter is patience, study and basic knowledge of Photoshop. I have spent many hours on my best shots of the moon and Deep Sky objects in Photoshop processing. Also, without Deep Sky Stacker it would have been pretty much impossible.
