Hey John,

Since I am starting out, I hope you don't mind if I ask you a few questions: did you use any filters for this shot (like H-alpha)? Would you recommend I hypertune my CG-5 or should it work fine out of the box? I just love how sharp and clear the stars appear, and how much nebulosity is showing. Is it just a matter of precise focus and gathering enough subs?

Thanks, Martin, I'm real proud of that shot, but you should see what some of the guys with dark sky and ccd cameras have done with the Eagle...

Wow! One of the nicest Eagle shots I have seen... amazing what you can do with a little 80mm APO and a LOT of patience....

Trevor, this is one of my favorites. I shot it from an observatory in South Carolina. I used the Orion Eon ED80 w\a Canon 40D @ Prime Focus. I used about 250 exposures of 5 minutes duration. It took two nights to gather all the lights. Darks were shot throughout the night, since the temperature dropped quite a bit. I shot the flats and bias frames during the day.

Processing took a LONG time... I could never get a shot like this in Ohio. It would take me a year to get enough subs...
