Hi Trevor, Let me introduce myself as curious man that looks at the sky with the ignorance of a commun person and with a small scientific backgraoung. After intensive professional work I have now retired and my brother in law Emile Pulinx invited me to joint astrogad in order for me to know about what he is doing and other are doing too. Many thanks for you welcome. Regards, Joan

    Thanks for the welcome Trevor,
I am just starting out with astroimaging. I had a good look at your pics. and they look terrific!
I struck a bit of bad luck last night, my mount stopped tracking completely. I feel this could be electrical problems. Most likely, the mount will have to go back to Takahashi in Japan for repairs. I could be out of action for a while.
It's a pity as we are here in wintermode and skies are nice and clear at this time of year.
    best regards,
    Peter

Hi Trevor, thanks for accepting my request to be a part of your group. I am a retired Vocational Counselor. My interest in astronomy began with the arrival of Comet Halley. I am interested only in astrophotography. My scope is a Takahashi 102 and (to this date) an unmodified Rebel XTi. I guide manually at this point, but I have an ST-4 which I intend to use when I learn to operate it. I live in Salina, Kansas but my dark site is a farm outside of Solomon, Kansas, from which my skyfog limit with the Rebel is 4 minutes. I am not computer savvy and so I may not utilize the full capability of this site. I look forward to learning and sharing with our group members. Jim

Thanks a lot Trevor. It's a great site and I look forward to learn more from it. We don't have that many clear skies these days in Portland, but hopefully that will change soon and I'll be able to contribute some new AP pics.

Feel free to send me your raw data anytime! Your work is awesome! I'd love to play around with it. I need the practice too!
  • Conor

Seriously dude, send me any data you want! FITS or raw if you can. I'd love to work on some of your shots.

Thanks for viewing my first images on this site! The one of M81 had a total exposure time of 2 hours made with my WO 110 mm; subs of 25 seconds (ISO 1600) as I have no guiding yet. Some work for adding all those subs...

You've convinced me to shoot the rest of the mosaic instead of waiting for the Rosette to rise!

Thanks Trevor, I seem to be having trouble downloading jpegs that are under 100KB as the moderator of Astro Gab requested. I compressed all my photos in Photo Shop E9 to minimum compression but most are much bigger than 100 KB. Any ideas how to make the files smaller so I can post more pics?
    Best regards, John Auvil
