Thanks for the welcome Trevor. It'll take me awhile to acclimate to the site format, but I'm already enjoying what I've found here. By the way, who administers the site?
Thanks for the welcoming words, Trevor. The Beast I'm peering into in my avatar pic is a 24" Newtonian Reflector that belongs to the members of the Charlotte, North Carolina Amateur Astronomy Club. I currently live in Ohio but will be moving to Charlotte when I retire in about 5 years. Thus I belong to astronomy clubs in Ohio and North & South Carolina.
Ha! Hawaii - I wish! I've never tried taking my AP rig overseas, I'm a bit reluctant to, if I'm honest. But I'm seriously considering emigrating, and clear skies are a factor in my decision. Canada is at the top of my list right now.
Thanks Trevor,
hoping to learn a lot from the group.

Thanks for the welcome Trevor. I am relatively new to astrophotography but its become an obsession. I will post some pictures for some constructive criticism.

Trevor,
Thank you for the action you have taken relative to the bot. As a new member, I wasn't sure whether to trust the site but your response has reassured me.

I have replaced my Celestron 120mm XLT efractor with a Celestron 8" SCT and I am trying to take images with my Sony@200 DSLR, I thought the larger aperature would be great but so far only taking an image of M 42 has demonstrated quite a bit more detail the deep sky M 81 and M51 are just fuzzy little spots but were reasonable images with my refractor. I just finished some 3 minute exposures @ 800 ISO with poor results so with the next good night I will try series of 15" exposures and stack them in DSS. Any suggestions?
Super cool. Photography has been my hobby for a long time but I am just turning my lens to the sky. I live on a farm so I have gotten to do some cool things with little equipment. The lack of town light interference is really helpful. My profile picture is from last week when the moon was so close. I have some others that I will load soon.
Bear with me and I'll hopefully get a couple of my pictures online - I've been imaging for two years now, but I'm still climbing the very steep learning curve of astroimaging.
Thank ya for the Welcome! Lots of awesome shots on here, we have enjoyed looking and will continue to look. Thanks to everyone who posts their pics on here, very beautiful shots to say the least :)
