here is a group like all the others to learn and share ideas about capturing the planets and moon and post processing please feel free to add any info u can or quistions u have i dont no a whole lot but i will share what i do no with those who desire
i no that there are not as many solar system guys on here as there is deep space guys but i do see a few people posting some great images of saturn and jupiter and moon venus mercury and im sure we all have differnt techs i hope to hear some of approaches u guys are taken to capture these realitives of ours my self i could shoot what ever planet was up each night im out thats how much i love it and the reason i bought my first scope so hopefully through this lil group we can all improve a lil !!
Great idea Spike, I have spent a great deal of time imaging the moon afocally which I have come to discover is a great method, I was somewhat forced to image this way due to my lens being attached to my Sony F-828. Recently I started using a SPC900NC webcam to shoot Saturn, I was out last night again working on the settings but I still cannot get a nice clear shot like the others I have seen taken with the same camera and set up as mine, there is something I am missing, not sure what though
BTW like you looking at the heavens started with the planets for me at a young age but imaging them only started a year ago, what a great thrill to be able to image Jupiter and four of its moons. The first time I got a shot of Uranus I did a little dance but my first shot of the moon, well lets just say I was over the moon.
hey guys i will b out thursaday night and im gonna try and grad all the planets in one outing im gonna snap some shots of my computer screen while im captureing with eos movie record and the neximage with amcap and then some s creen shots in registax to kinda let yall see how i go about it i no i still have lots to learn aswell thats the one thing about this hobby that i love u can never learn it all someone always has a new way or diff way to do and still get great results
if any of u have a place where u can see low in the east just before dawn 7 out 8 of the planets will b up not the best place to image at but great for pratice if u can get it decent there wen it comes in to opp u can nail it lol
Hey Spike no DSLR yet I am working on it though, crazy, I have been doing Photography since grade 4, relied on film up until 2004 when I got my Sony F-828 over 30,000 photos and still works great but not so much for astrophotography, great with stars and awesome with the moon but not with deep space and it works well with targets like Neptune and Uranus. I am in the market to get a DSLR but still not sure if CCD is they way to go but that is for another discussion
