You can start a discussion if you want Marc and I'll chime in as well as others I'm sure. We've been having the discussion via live chat, but I'm realizing the downside to the chat is no history or chat transcript so we don't have a record of what someone said. You just have to remember it (which doesn't work very well for me!)

Neil, didn't mean to take up all this room, I couldn't figure out how to get the pics all in one comment space errr. This would make a great discussion, all the different aspects of WB and how they affect a pic-just a thought. Marc

Neils method of using a gray card is one method of WB w/a modified cam (which I also use-works great). An alternate method is to set and control your own wht bal w/Camera Raw or something equivalent. 1) no wht bal 2) wht bal set Cam Raw 3) goofing in PS

That's right. WB = white balance. We were having a discussion about it on the chat last night so I thought I'd post an example of how a custom white balance corrects color really well.

I use a DSLR (obviously) and the CR2 files store the custom white balance info. By default Nebulosity (the capture software I use) saves the files as FITS which does not store the white balance data. The latest version lets us save the CR2's so I use them to stack and the color processing is much easier to do.
