Thanks, I use a 2" Orion Skyglow Imaging Filt. for light pol. (cam is modded). In my slice of sky 5-6mn exps. is about max w/o totally blowing out the pixel saturation. I try to keep it around 1/3+- of the histogram. That seems to be the generally accepted method from what I've read. I'm not sure at what point in the flow you are talking about the rd/org bckgrnd. I'll go out this limb (if differ let me know) I think you need to equalize the bckgrnd. 2 ways I do it is; using GradientXterminator which cleans up any gradients and will balance bckgr (if you want), the other way is using levels in PS w/eyedropper. Very rarely do these type of pics look good at full size, but this my friend is sweet! Any filter used? I notice the 300sec exposures...how do you avoid the red/orange background...is this a mod camera?
